Natural Stone Care & Cleaning

Rausch Granite – South Dakota

To take the best care of your new granite, marble or other natural stone countertops and vanities from Rausch Granite, follow the tips below:

Granite Care & Cleaning

Granite is easy to maintain and clean. You’ll need to know what kind of finish your countertops or vanities have. Stones with more polish are easier to clean. If your countertops don’t have a finish, don’t use a chemical cleaner, and instead use a damp cloth.

In order to avoid stains, scratches and chips, keep your countertop as dry as possible and don’t use it as a cutting board. Liquids like vegetable acids, wines, meat juices and more can stain the stone if it leeches into a porous spot.

After every meal, wipe down your countertops. Buy cleaners made to clean granite. Wipe up spills immediately before they stain the surface. Don’t use ammonia to clean your countertops and don’t let stains sit.

Marble Care & Cleaning

At least once a week, you’ll want to dust off your marble counters or vanities with a soft microfiber cloth. Use a damp cloth and pH-neutral cleaner designed for stone for wet cleaning. Avoid cleaning with abrasive products that can etch the stone’s surface. Acidic foods (tomatoes, citrus fruits, vinegar, etc) will damage marble.

You’ll want to regularly seal your countertops to avoid stains and damage. Reseal when water fails to bead up after being splashed on the surface.

Other Natural Stone Care & Cleaning
